It was trick-or-treat time once again, and all of us at Cal Coast
hope each of you had a happy and safe Halloween. As we begin
to gear up for a busy holiday season, we thought we would focus
this issue of the CalCoaster on Directory Submission, an SEO trick
that can help encourage visitors to your site and build your rankings
just in time for the busy season ahead.
Direct Your Marketing
Although Cal Coast proactively submits our monthly SEO clients'
sites to search directories, it is often an aspect of the program
that people have the most questions about. Search directories
exist for almost every industry or product type and are simply
a collection of Web sites that offer information on a related
topic. Most major search engines like Google and Yahoo have
directories and are often visited by Web users wanting to find
a business in their local area or selling a specific product.
Search directories are also extremely well optimized and often
times have the highest rankings for the chosen keywords.
This is due, in large part, to the fact that directories contain
so much content related to the keyword and have continually updated
information.
Directories attract all types of sites, both good and bad. Often
times; we have clients express concern about having their Web
site listed in the same location as others that are less reputable.
Although it is true that there are less credible sites in directories,
it is still a great SEO tool to drive traffic to your site and
can often times lead to business that you would otherwise never
receive.
We encourage you to take a closer look at directories by trying
our Directory Stew recipe below. You will find great tips
in this month's recipe for finding industry specific directories
and increasing your traffic by submitting to them. As always,
if you have any questions about directories or if you have a suggestion
for a directory submission, please contact info@calcoastwebdesign.com.
Directory Stew
1 large search engine
½ pound research
1 cup keywords
Submission sauce
Open a large search engine and add research and keywords.
By completing a simple search in a large search engine like Yahoo
or Google, you can find a long list of directories powered by
that particular engine. Most large engines not only have
a directory, but also provide a great research vessel for finding
other directories related directly to your industry. Try
typing “<your industry> directory” into a search
engine and see how many results you get. Chances are that
a number of directories will be returned.
Add the Submission Sauce to the directory. Once you have
located directories that you want to submit your site to, simply
follow the directions provided by the directory to do so.
Most directory submission is straightforward and should take little
time to complete. You can also send links to the directory
direct to Cal Coast at info@calcoastwebdesign.com
to have our virtual mangers handle the submission for you.
Feel free to visit any of the other general common directories
below. Please be sure to NOT re-include yourself.
If we have already added your site for review, it is poor search
engine etiquette to submit again. If you are questing, feel
free to send an email to Support@CalCoastWebDesign.com.
Again, clients who are already on a monthly SEO package are being
submitted to these directories pro-actively however feel free
to share this secret with friends and colleagues. We have a one
time fee package available for directory submission for all non-monthly
clients. Visit http://www.calcoastwebdesign.com/DirectorySubmissionAgreement.doc
for more information. We appreciate your referrals and will
offer a free hour for every referral turned to client during the
month of November.
Thanks Cal Coaster Subscribers!
Sincerely,
Cal Coast Web Design, Inc.
